GYOTAKU Art

Gyotaku (魚拓, from gyo “fish” + takustone impression“) is the traditional Japanese method of printing fish, a practice which dates back to the mid-1800s. This form of nature printing was used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an art form of its own. This original form of gyotaku, as a recording method for fisherman, is still utilized today, and can be seen hanging in tackle shops in Japan.

These are examples of my work, I enhance the prints with airbrushing in color tints or they can be left a single color. I also bring them into photoshop for effects to which in this case the final to you is a high quality inkjet print. Framing of prints is also available in a natural barn wood style.
